Melania Trump disgusted by assassination attempt in book promo

“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” Melania Trump, former first lady, said in a polished video on her social media pages Tuesday. The short reel was a promo for her new memoir coming out on October 8, per the book’s Amazon page.

Melania continued: “Now, the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech? There is definitely more to the story, and we need to uncover the truth.” Cockburn was riveted as he watched Melania’s beautifully edited face fade into the background and her new book, titled Melania, appear with the words “order now, melaniatrump.com.”

“Writing this memoir has been a deeply personal and reflective journey for me,” Melania said in another video, posted last week. “As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts.” As Cockburn has noted before, Melania wasn’t necessarily welcome in elite circles as first lady. “I believe it is important to share my perspective; the truth,” she concluded.

The ads for Melania’s new memoir started on July 25, telling her social media followers they could pre-order it exclusively on melaniatrump.com. Another post dropped on August 25, extending the sale to Amazon. In the last week or so, her page has featured three promo videos — one on Sunday highlighting the 2020 election and division in America. Are pre-order sales low? The Amazon page says no — supposedly it’s already a number one bestseller in the US Presidents category.

The book design is about as reserved as Melania is, with no fanfare, no pictures — just a white cover and the bold black text “Melania.” Cockburn approves. As for Melania’s thoughts on the assassination attempt on her husband, weird segue into a book ad. 

In the race to publish a memoir, Hillary Clinton beat Melania to it. Something Lost, Something Gained, comes out next week, and per one of her latest tweets, Hillary is “so excited to share it with you.” Cockburn was disappointed to learn she turned off Twitter/X comments (only accounts Hillary follows or mentioned can respond) for he was sure to find some roasting remark about the highly air-brushed book cover where the seventy-six-year-old former first lady appears largely wrinkle-free.
