The Partnerships Director is a newly created role integral to The Spectator’s expansion of our commercial sales operation. The partnerships director will be pivotal in establishing relationships to grow The Spectator’s revenue through a growing product offering. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and excited to represent The Spectator as a competitor in the premium media market. You will proactively build new relationships and maintain trusted partnerships. The ideal candidate will be based in DC and have a deep understanding of how to leverage The Spectator’s unique audience to build revenue opportunities through successful partnerships across the portfolio.
The Spectator is the world’s oldest magazine, and there’s never been a better time to join us. This role is full-time and ideally is based in our Washington, DC office.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years’ experience in digital media, news industry, publisher or platform sales with an emphasis on public affairs organizations in DC
- Relationships and networking opportunities with associations and organizations such as trade associations, defense contractors and financial institutions
- An understanding of The Spectator’s legacy, brand, style and competitive landscape
- Expertise and comfort managing full-cycle sales while generating new relationships and nurturing preexisting ones
The ideal candidate will be expected to:
- Maintain full-cycle sales process for in-market clients
- Develop and maintain new and existing relationships with partners to grow The Spectator’s market reach
- Proactively network across DC to create new opportunities
- Own the budget and prospective industry targets and deliver sales strategies
- Deliver or exceed quarterly sales targets
- Collaborate with leadership to influence our go-to-market strategy and product assortment based on market feedback
- Represent The Spectator as the in-market brand ambassador
- Work flexibly with our UK and NYC-based offices
